Tommie Butler

October 6, 1955 — June 1, 2020

Tommie Carlton Butler, 64, of Tar Heel, NC passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommie H. Butler, one son, Tony Samuel Butler, one sister Joyce Ann Butler, one nephew, Bradley Sessoms and his mother-in-law, Mary Howard. Tommie leaves behind his mother, Hazel Guyton of Bladenboro; his loving wife, Tracy Butler of the home; three sons: Austin Butler (Kirsten) of Tar Heel; Timmy Kersey (Christy) of Garland; and Jamie Butler, one brother, Robert Butler of Elizabethtown; one sister, Rachel Sessoms of Bladenboro; one brother-in-law, Trey Roger (Linda), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful pal, his dog Bo Fredrick.

Tommie was a humble, loving son, brother, husband, and father. He adored his family and enjoyed spending time playing with his granddaughter, Payslee. Tommie was anticipating the arrival of his grandson Waylon in July. He loved working with his son and hanging out with his nieces and nephews. Tommie was faithful about calling his mama, his brother and his buddy, Ben and his sister everyday just to tell her to “slow down’. He enjoyed wrestling, racing and was a die-hard Dale Earnhardt fan. He also enjoyed coaching baseball and Elvis. Tommy even knew a few of his moves on the dance floor.

He was a man who never left home without his hat and his golden heart. Tommie was an all around “good” guy who did not mind helping others. His generosity and charismatic personality will forever be missed.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 3 pm at Allen Cemetery in Dublin with Rev. Steven Johnson officiating.

A special thank you to his caregivers, Tammy Jones and Donna Hunt. A deep appreciation also to the staff of Community Hospice in Lumberton for all their love, care and support during Tommie’s illness.
