Samuel Blackmon

Samuel “Sammy” Ray Blackmon, 65, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton and Ida Blackmon, siblings: Bob Blackmon, Bill Blackmon, Johnny Blackmon, Linda Willoughby, Esther Edwards, and Betty Anderson. Sammy leaves behind his loving wife, Sandy Blackmon, two sons: Donnie Blackmon and wife Kim, David Blackmon and wife Courtney, one daughter, Kimberly Willoughby and husband Keith; all of Bladenboro; two brothers, Bennie Blackmon, Tom Cain, one sister, Mary Lou Autry,  ten grandchildren: D’anna Smith, Lorna Smith, Brycen Blackmon, Ryan Blackmon, Haley Cain, Raegan Blackmon, Joshua Blackmon, Jacob Blackmon, Krisna Ransom and Katelyn Willoughby, and one great grandchild, Raelynn Wilson.

Sammy loved the Lord, his wife and his children. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to church and Sunday family dinners. Sammy, when not working, could be found spending time outside, whether building something, planting flowers, riding in his Red truck or hanging with his fur pals, Bubba and Daisy. His favorite holiday was Christmas as he loved to decorate the whole house for the occasion. Sammy was a friendly, outgoing soul who loved to talk. He will surely be missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm in the chapel with Rev. Bruce Brumfield and Rev. O'Neil Parker officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery in Bladenboro.
