Nellie Carroll Rose, 83, of Bladenboro passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at her home. Nellie was born on November 13, 1936 to the Robert Carroll and Ida Pait Carroll. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Rose; daughter, Diane Rose; son, Donald Rose; brothers, Lynn, Dewey, and Billy Carroll; sisters, Edith Allen, Letha Smith, Inez Brotemarkle and Judy Graham.
Nellie loved her family, cooking, working in her yard, cleaning and keeping them all in line. She always put others before herself. One of her favorite past times was going fishing, catching them and going home to cook and eat. Her grandchildren lovely referred to her as Grandma Rose and her great grandchildren referred to her as Nanna. She was a member of Tar Heel Freewill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her compassionate heart and gentle soul left an eternal impression in the lives of those who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 7:00 until 8:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro, burial will follow in Allen Cemetery on Marsh Road.
Mrs. Rose is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Guyton of Elizabethtown; Linda Armstrong of New Port News, Va.; son, Chris Rose (Frances) of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Evelana Ward of Tarheel; Edna Warner ( Tom) of California; eight grandchildren; David Guyton (Lindsey); Daniel Guyton (Hanna); Jonathan “J.R.” (Catherine) Rose; Anthony Rose (Jessica); Adam Rose (Audrey), Steven “Danny” Major (Desarea); Kelly Matthews (Bryan); Ashley Armstrong and fifteen great grandchildren.
