Marcia Glenys Thompson, 81, of Elizabethtown passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Columbus County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berry Lewis and Edith Myrtice Warwick Lewis; her husbands, William (Billy) Whiteford Yandle and Leroy Thompson; infant son at childbirth; sisters: Netta Thay White, Jean Lewis Gooden; brothers: Coegil Lewis, Rusty Lewis. Glenys leaves behind three daughters: Patti Faye Yandle of Elizabethtown, Vickie Billups (Barry) of Ammon, Jacqueline Bedsole (Steve) of Elizabethtown; four step-sons: Kenneth Thompson of South Carolina, William Thompson (Kim) of Tar Heel, Steven Thompson (John) of South Carolina, Johnny Thompson of Lumberton; three sisters: Edith Stewart of Elizabethtown, Hannah Gooden of White Oak, Martha Bridgers of Elizabethtown; two brothers: Autry Lewis (Robert) of Raleigh, Tommy White of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren: Ashley Marlowe (Ray), Dewane (Will) Billups (Ehren), Colby Bedsole (Chelsea), Quinton Bedsole (Emily) and three great grandchildren: Brady Marlowe, Emmie Marlowe and Greyson Bedsole.
Glenys worked many years in the sewing MFG plants, Elizabethtown Industries, D&H MFG, and Lastly Accent Dye before retiring. After retirement, Glenys enjoyed cooking, baking, she was fantastic at both, going to sporting events her grandchildren were involved with. Glenys was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and watching her kids and grandchildren succeed in their goals. Glenys loved baking and cooking for her family, it always put a smile on her face. Glenys taught us a lot about life and she will be truly missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 9:00am-10:30am on July 7th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will follow in the White’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Warren Hill officiating.
