Our beloved Linrod Patterson, 76, of Whiteville was called home to be with his father, the Almighty God on Saturday, January 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Patterson and Annie Adams Patterson, daughter Monique Lewis, two sisters, Levenia Thorpe and Nadine Rouse, one brother William Thorpe, two nieces Rosaland Monroe and Crystal Monroe, and two nephews Robert “Fon” Patterson and John "Jonny Cake" Lester. Linrod is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia Patterson of the home, son, Renaldo Lewis (Mercia) of Lake Waccamaw, daughter, Emily Currie of the home, one sister, Geraldine Patterson Rouse (Marshall) of Whiteville, one brother Jerome Patterson (Donna) of Rochester, NY, and eight grandchildren: Nora Currie, Khadijah Currie and Africa Currie Jr. all of the home, and Adriana Lewis, Mariah Lewis, Avery Lewis, Dominic Lewis, and Miles Lewis, all of Lake Waccamaw.

A born native of Newark New Jersey, Linrod attended catholic grade school.  During adulthood, Linrod relocated to Rico, North Carolina where he remained until God called him home.  Surrounded by family, Linrod quickly became well known and loved by his community and peers.  He dedicated 19 years of service at Southeastern Community College where he was proud to have retired from.  He was an articulate, outstanding, intelligent, and a charming soul that possessed a love for politics, coffee, history, traveling, and boxing.  He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend. As the matriarch of the Patterson family, he is known for sharing family history, childhood memories, and life nuggets that will be passed on many generations following him.  He shared a close bond with his grandkids and all his nieces and nephews and took pride in his family.  He inspired, uplifted, and encouraged everyone around him.  He was everybody’s favorite, and if you knew him, you loved him!  His genuineness, his smile, and his love will never be forgotten. He will forever be in our hearts.
