Jane Minard

Jane Gwen Gooden Minard, 74, of Clarkton went to be with her Lord Jesus on December 16, 2020 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born August 31, 1946 in Lumberton, NC to the late Jessie (Ballantine) and W.D. Gooden and lived in Clarkton, NC for most of her life.

Jane worked 35 years for United Carolina Bank and BB&T, first as a teller and then as a business services associate. She was blessed with a strong work ethic and willingness to help. Jane went the extra mile for her customers, earning several banking awards.

Serving as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, elder, and in many other capacities at Clarkton Presbyterian Church, Jane devoted countless hours in service to God and her fellow church members, whom she considered family.

An avid knitter, Jane could be found on her couch knitting, drinking a glass of tea, and watching Tarheel basketball on the weekends. She was always ready with a hand-knitted dishcloth or a chocolate chess pie or her famous “chewie” cake to cheer someone up.

Jane was adored by her family and friends. She was devoted to her three children the constant focus of her life, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Generous to a fault, she would not do for herself if there were someone else who needed something.

Jane is survived by two daughters: Lisa (Mike) Belding of Waynesburg, PA., Stephanie (Bruce) Davis of Clarkton, NC., and one son: Bill (Adrianne) Minard of Cumberland, MD., seven grandchildren: Kimberly Brown Tuton (Jonathan), Jonathan Davis (Michelle), Ethan Davis, W.D. Belding, Jessie Belding, Lydia Minard, and Lauren Minard, and one great grandson: Finn Tuton, one sister: Kathy Cates of Greensboro, NC., one sister-in-law Mary Lou Gooden of Dublin, two nieces: Savannah Cates and Jessica Cates and one nephew: Joseph Gooden.

Jane was preceded in death by her brother: Richard Gooden.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Clarkton Cemetery with Rev. Barrett Ingram officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Clarkton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 663, Clarkton, NC 28433 in Jane’s memory. The family also asks that if you know someone who suffers from Alzheimer’s, lend them a hand, go visit them, let them know they are not forgotten.
