James “BoBo” Len Long, Jr., 68, of Tar Heel, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Mae Long; wife: Sheila Ann Hill Long; brother: Marshall Long; sisters: Betty Flowers, Addie Mae Souls and Barbara Caulder. BoBo leaves behind three sons: James Casey Long (Amanda) of Fayetteville, James Adam Long of Charlotte, Scott Long (Cindy) of Tar Heel; daughter: Heather Smith (Terry) of Tar Heel; three brothers: Jimmy Long of Grays Creek, Pete Long of Bladenboro, Huey Long (Angie) of Tar Heel; five sisters: Elaine Smith (Lenny) of Tar Heel, Judy Hubbard of Grays Creek, Mildred Long of Elizabethtown, Phyliss Riley of Lumberton, Patsy Horne of Lumberton; seven grandchildren: Austin Smith, Colby Smith, Devin Smith, Alyssa Long, Gavin Long, Mason Long and Brynlee Long.
BoBo treasured his family and missed his wife greatly. He enjoyed gardening, horses, tractors and just the outdoors in general. His sister, Elaine, was very special to him. BoBo was an easy-going, humble, all-around good samaritan. He was firm but loving, wise in so many ways and always took pride in his work. He never gave up but surrendered to his Lord.
The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday, May 19th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, May 20th at Foundation Church with Rev. Jason Williams, Rev. Warren Hill and Rev. David Hodge officiating service. Burial will follow service in the Allen Cemetery in Dublin.
