Our dear son, James Christopher “Chris’ Berry, 40, passed away at home in Bladenboro on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Luther Russell Berry and Viola Lewis Berry, his maternal grandparents, Hutch Kinlaw and Lillie Mae Kinlaw, his uncles David Kinlaw, Luther Ray Berry, and Donald Russell Berry, and one cousin Carmen Todd Hackworth. Chris is survived by his daddy, James Curtis Berry, his mama, Deborah Kinlaw Berry, his beloved brother, Joshua Curtis Berry, one nephew and numerous nieces and cousins.

Chris was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to everyone. He suddenly and peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Chris was devoted to his family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. He displayed unconditional love to everyone. He especially loved watching movies with his parents and playing with his nieces, Lillianna, Lilah, and nephew Jacob. He had a smile that would light a room. His hobby was Information Technology and the world of video gaming. Chris learned to read as a child and immediately developed a passion for learning. Chris continued to read thousands of books. He was very knowledgeable about life, religion, his surroundings, the world and the universe. He was always reading. He loved to read. Chris traveled through the pages of books. He especially loved stories of Mount Everest and other far-away places. He love to play with his furry pets, a Yorkie “Gigi” and his cat, “KeKe”.

Chris had a beautiful, peaceful soul. He never hurt or held anger against anyone. God called home another angel. Chris will be deeply missed and NEVER forgotten. He will be in our hearts forever.

No services are planned at this time. However, a private family service will be held in the future. The family request in lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in Chris’s name or donate to an animal shelter.
