Hartford McIver Marlowe, 95, of Clarkton, passed away on Saturday, March 07, 2021. He was preceded in death by one infant son, James Marlowe; two sisters: Carrie Norris, Laura Malpass; brother, Bryant Marlowe; daughter-in-law, Christal H. Marlowe; two nephews: Danny and John Malpass.  Hartford leaves behind his wife, Ruth Ann Hardgraves Marlowe of the home; two sons: Timothy Marlowe of Clarkton, Adam Marlowe and wife Betty of Clarkton; one nephew that was like his son, Gilbert Collins and wife Sue of Lake Waccamaw; daughter, Sarah Marlowe of the home; sister, Hilda Reaves of Leland; three grandchildren: Christopher Marlowe, Haley Marlowe, Faith Marlowe; four step-grandchildren: Maggie Johnson, Josh Johnson, Brittany Smith (Michael), Bri Haga; five great-grandchildren: Zoey, Ellie, David, Dean, Alexander and several nieces and nephews.

Hartford was born September 25, 1925 to the late Gilbert and Alice Turner Marlowe in Grassy Bay, SC. He married the love of his life, Ann in 1971 and had four children with one dying in infancy. He adored his family especially his grandchildren. Hartford loved to hug others and always welcomed everyone. He had a long productive life never taking medications until the last few months, and just gave up driving in 2019.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, March 9th in the Clarkton Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hester officiating.  All attendees are requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare 206 Warrior Trail Whiteville, NC 28472.
