Gerald Hall

November 12, 1934 — September 18, 2022

Elizabethtown

Gerald McDonald “Donald” Hall, age 87, of Elizabethtown went to his eternal home on Sunday, September 18, 2022. He was born in Brunswick County on November 12, 1934, to the late Herbert Haynes Hall and Irene Averitte Hall. Donald is survived by his adoring wife of 68 years, Hilda Kinlaw Hall, of the home, son Jeff Hall (Jen) of Raleigh, daughter Donna Hall Packer (Jerry) of Whitakers, four grandchildren Logan Hall, Kayla Hall, Wayne Packer (Roxie) and Richard Packer, nephews Earl Harrelson (Cindy), Curt Brown (Mary), and Steve Brown (Angela), and niece Rebecca Baldwin (James). He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Harry Haynes Hall, two sisters Lois Hall Harrelson and Rachel Hall Brown and one niece Jane Brown.

Donald was a hardworking man who loved his family and his community. He served as a charter member of the Volunteer Elizabethtown Rescue Squad for over 20 years. He was known to most as “The Man who walks through town.” because he was an avid walker. He believed in keeping healthy and having a strong work ethic. He worked for International Paper Company for 28 years and for Gulf Oil, Sampson Bladen Oil, Cape Fear Crematory and Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking seafood, trips to the mountains and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always busy doing something and enjoyed it more if he was doing for others. His servant heart and genuine, loving nature will certainly be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family will welcome friends at the home of Bonnie Smith, 189 Summer Hill Dr., Elizabethtown, NC from 2-3:45 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2022. A graveside service will follow at 4 pm in Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown with the Reverend Rudy Ramphal and Reverend Charles Kinlaw officiating.
