Franklin "Buddy" Cain

May 11, 1937 — May 17, 2022

Bladenboro

Reverend Franklin “Buddy” Cain, 85, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born in Bladen County on May 11, 1937, to the late J.C. and Hazel Smith Cain. Buddy spent many years as a car salesman and later years as the pastor of Peace Baptist Church in Bladenboro. Even after pastoring, he still enjoyed tinkering on old cars and would still have one for sell in his yard from time to time. Buddy loved his little dogs, his first one, “Precious” and then after her passing it was “Max”. He would often be seen with his fur baby by his side riding around town. His pets brought him much comfort.  His other favorite past time was eating a good meal as most preachers like to do. His favorite side dish with every meal was rice. It was handed down to him from his childhood. His mother always made sure she had a pot of rice and a pan of biscuits with every meal. Her children and grandchildren alike enjoyed them a great deal especially at Sunday dinner. Buddy loved his family, his church family, and his hometown. He will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 10:30-11:30 am at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with a funeral service following at 11:30 am with Reverend Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Bladenboro.

Buddy leaves behind son, Greg Cain and wife Donna of Ooltewah, TN, daughter Ginger Cain of Ocean Isle Beach, brother Gene Cain and wife Kathy of Melbourne, FL, three sisters, Vangie Edwards Gaskill and husband Dee of Raleigh, Velma Davis of Cary, and Faye Storms and husband Willard of Bladenboro, sister-in-law Gail Cain of Bladenboro, four grandchildren Daniel Davis (Jessica), Ben Davis (Mindy), Josh Cain (Kasandra), and Autumn Cain and nine great grandchildren, Destiny, Harley, Wyatt, Jaxson, Sawyer, Matilyn, Kitana, Negan, and Romero, and a host of neices and nephews. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Quince, and Ed Cain.
