Elsie "Irene" Santee

Elsie "Irene" Santee, 87, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary Garrell; husband, Murray Santee; sister, Geraldine Blackburn; brothers: David L. Garrell, Jr and Jerry Garrell.

Irene leaves behind one son, David Santee and wife Judy of Middleburg, Florida; four daughters: Sherry S. Leggett, Pamela Durden, Diane McLemore and husband Randy, Patricia Stanley and husband Jimmy, all of Bladenboro; grandchildren: Neill Todd and Brianna Smith, Kevin and T.J. Pait Todd, Lee Bryant and Ann Marie Durden, John and Lindsey Brown Durden, Bruce and Constance McLemore, Joe and Brandy McLemore Whitman, Samantha McLemore, Jason and Donna Stanley Larrimore, Doss and Jamie Stanley, Suzanne Stanley, Steven Santee, Phil and Della Santee Enerson; 22 great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Marvin, Britney, Rebekah, Johnathan, Justin, Jordan, Shelby, Angel, Madison, Hayden, J.D., Kaitlyn, Jaxson, Curtis, Joshua, Tara, Evin, Parker, Sean, Kaia and Amelia; five great, great-grandchildren: Kaidence, Leo, Jensen, Grayson and Luna.

Irene married the love of her life, Murray at the tender age of 16 and since his passing she has longed for the day to see him again. She loved her family dearly especially all her grandchildren. She cherished the time playing trucks among other things with her great-grandchildren. Irene was an outgoing lady who could talk to anyone. Some of her hobbies included: sewing, playing cards and puzzle books. Her favorite food was shrimp, and she could eat them anywhere they were available. This lovely soul is gone but not forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 5th outside across from Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Allbright officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will conclude services in the Old Field Cemetery in Bladenboro.
