Elizabeth “Lib” Lennon Hester, 101, of Laurinburg, formerly of Bladenboro, entered into rest on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Prestwick Village. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Moore Lennon and Clarice Coleman Lennon, her husband, Roy Wilbur Hester Sr., one son Roy Wilbur Hester Jr., one great granddaughter, Noelle Nye Hester, four brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Elizabeth leaves behind one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Gibson Hester of Gibson; one brother, Robert Lennon (Anne) of Wilmington, three grandchildren: David Hester (Wanda) of Lumberton, Jonathan Scott Hester (Kristie) of Cary, Wade Logan (Emmy) of Indian Land, SC, and six great grandchildren: D.J. and Teddy Hester of Lumberton, Olivia and Erin Hester of Cary, and Otto and Ollie Logan of Indian Land, SC.
Mrs. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her family and enjoyed cooking meals for them. She retired from the Bank of Bladenboro in !985 and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bladenboro. Elizabeth had a gift for needle work, and she was instrumental in founding the Prayer Shawl Ministry at the church. During this ministry, she knitted over 100 prayer shawls. Among her many talents, she volunteered at the WMU Thrift Store, fed many Baptist Ministers, and read to students at Spaulding Monroe Middle School. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens with her husband and watching UNC basketball. Elizabeth was a Godly woman who led by example. Her selfless, kind, and gentle spirit left an impression on this world that will not soon be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro with Rev. Kevin Kinlaw officiating.
