Dessie Virginia Jackson Cox, 93, of Bladenboro passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. Jackson and Nancy Bell Cannon Jackson, her husband, Lonnie Cox, five sisters and six brother. Dessie leaves behind one son, Terry Cox (Georgiann) of Laurinburg; one daughter, Libby Wilkins (Ronnie) of Bladenboro; one brother, Stancil Jackson of Fairbanks, Alaska; five grandchildren: Denise Kinlaw (Eddie) of Apex; Kim Blackmon (Donnie) of Bladenboro; Kelly Locklear (Douglas) of Laurinburg; Jennifer Knight of Laurinburg; and Tim Cox (Laurie) of Laurinburg; nine great grandchildren: Jason Kinlaw, Alex Kinlaw, D'Anna Smith, Lorna Smith, Ashley Locklear, Noah Locklear, Shane Knight, Kaleb Knight and Brycen Blackmon and one great-great granddaughter, Raelynn Smith.
Ms. Dessie was a kind, humble, sweet and loving lady. She loved the Lord, her family and everyone that she come in contact with. Dessie was an avid sewer and enjoyed making quilts for her family. She always went the extra mile for anyone she could help. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of all that knew her.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 pm on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Bladen Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm with Rev. Dale Hester officiating. Burial will be private.
