Cynthia Inman

December 2, 1955 — January 8, 2021

Elizabethtown

Cynthia Lu Tholen Inman (Cyndi) of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2021. Born on December 2nd, 1955, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Cyndi attended the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill before she moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she delighted in spending time with her brothers and sisters, enjoying all the excitement Myrtle Beach had to offer. It was there she met and fell in love with Joe. They married on the beach in 1989 and made a home together in Elizabethtown, along with daughter Sarah, a source of great joy in her life.

Cyndi made a strong first impression. Her grandmother-in-law, Blanche, deemed her to be “as tall as a tree” upon their first meeting. Cyndi’s blond hair and long legs sometimes distracted from her best feature - her heart, which was as big as she was tall. Outgoing and adventurous, she was a triathlete, NAUI dive master, kickboxer, and second degree black belt. Armed with a sassy sense of humor and a mischievous sparkle in her eye, no one who met Cyndi could ever forget her. Never afraid to share exactly what was on her mind, she would charm you and make you blush at the same time. She transformed her love of cooking and hospitality into a successful business, Sid’s Gourmet Deli, which allowed her to nurture her community. She especially loved children and animals. She was full of life, love and humor and the world will be a little dimmer without her light.

Cyndi is survived by her loving husband, Joe Inman, of Elizabethtown, and daughter, Sarah Inman Shafer of Oak Island. She is also survived by sisters Denise Tholen of Myrtle Beach and Michelle Tholen Ernie and husband David of Myrtle Beach; brothers Brad Tholen and wife Linda of Hilton Head Island, and Blake Tholen of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law Tony Inman and wife Melody of Elizabethtown; and sister-in-law Sheila Wilson and husband Mark of Wilmington; Grandchildren Oliver and Esther Shafer of Oak Island; and many more loved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by mother, Connie Tholen and brothers, Bryan and Wade Tholen.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery with Dr. Bill Young officiating.
