Beulah Maynard

Beulah White Maynard, 91, of Elizabethtown went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 12, 2022 while at Elizabethtown Nursing Center. She was born in Bladen County to the late Asa Clark White and Emma Idell Ward White.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur Irving Maynard, siblings, James, AC, Mary, Emma, Hull, Marcie, Livie, Julia, Clarence, Hutch, Franklin, and one sister-in-law, Beth.

She leaves behind her sons, Alan Maynard (Dawn) of Emerald Isle, David Maynard (Claretta) of Waxhaw, daughters, Debra Stegall (Butch) of St. Peters, Missouri, Vicki McLaughlin (Joe) of Bladenboro, nine grandchildren, Matthew Stegall (Tracy), April Stegall, Emma McLaughlin, Rachel Porter (Anthony), Hawley Hunt (Kent), Ian Maynard, Cayli Maynard, Grayson Ketterer (Emily), and Marley Ketterer, five great grandchildren, Madden Stegall, Parker Hunt, Addison Hunt, Sybil Hunt, Dean Porter and one on the way.

Beulah was raised on a farm in Bladen County alongside her eleven siblings. She began writing a soldier, Irving Maynard, during the Korean War that began a romance that lasted over 40 years. Together with her husband, Irving, they raised four wonderful children and traveled the world. Nothing was more important to them than family. Beulah became a registered nurse in the 1950s and did what she knew best, taking care of others. She also cherished her church and was very active with the Women’s Ministries.

Beulah enjoyed being with her friends and family. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will be missed dearly.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 16th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Clarkton with Dr. Bob Bardin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bladen Crisis Center, P.O. Box 455, Elizabethtown, NC 28337, or the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.
