Bessie Ward

Bessie Lee Ward, 73, of Elizabethtown passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Vacola Tart Tyler, husband Ricky Lee Ward, three brothers and four sisters. Bessie leaves behind her son, James Dean Edwards (Lisa) of Lafayette, TN; two stepsons, Ricky Ward Jr. and Jonathan Ward, both of Tabor City, NC; one daughter, Tina Edwards of Elizabethtown; one brother, John Tyler of Elizabethtown; two sisters: Mona Squires (Ray) of Kelly; Linda Davis of Clarkton; four grandsons: Tyler Crocker, Austin Tomlinson, Jordon Tomlinson, Dillon Pauley, and three granddaughters: Madison Edwards, Alex Edwards and Brook Edwards.

Bessie was a strong, independent and loving lady. She valued her family more than anything in this world and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Bessie had a booth at the local flea market in Whiteville for 15 years as she enjoyed meeting and talking with new people. Her outgoing and caring spirit will forever be missed.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16th at White Oak Baptist Church in White Oak, NC with Rev. Danny Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro.
