Yvonne Cross

Yvonne Butler Cross, 83, of Elizabethtown went to her eternal home on Friday, August 6, 2021. She was born in Bladen County on February 21, 1938 to the late Norman J. Butler and Laura Mae Hester Butler. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years John Watson Cross Jr., and two brothers Leon Butler and Thomas Butler. She is survived by three sons, John W. Cross, III (JoAn) of The Colony, TX, Powell J. Cross (Toni) of the home, and Benjamin A. Cross (Mandy) of Columbus, GA, one brother Donald Butler (Faye) of Dunn, one sister JoAn Crenshaw of Fuquay Varina, six grandchildren: Caitlin Melvin (Dustin), Wesley Cross (Emily), Laney Cross (Reuben), Kayla Cross, Abbie Cross and Katherine Yvonne Cross, and two great grandchildren, Emma Catherine Melvin and Jacob Eli Dunn.

Yvonne was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She enjoyed attending church at her home church, Elizabethtown Presbyterian, and loved the beach. A beautician by trade, she worked at Cole’s Beauty shop and served as a secretary for Cross Heating & Air. She was a social butterfly, always smiling, always caring for others, and will be eternally missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021, at the Elizabethtown Cemetery with Dr. Bill Young officiating.
