Virginia Murphy

Virginia Lewis Blackburn Murphy, age 77,  of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023 while at Wesley Pines Retirement Community in Lumberton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Blackburn and Alease Brisson Blackburn. Left to cherish her memory are the many friends and family members that she cherished and who thought the world of her as well.

Virginia graduated from Elizabethtown High School and earned a degree in Teaching from Campbell College. She liked to stay busy and upon retirement, she went to work with Bladen County Hospital. Virginia enjoyed watching sports on tv and was a die hard NC State fan. Her favorite times were spent attending church, traveling, playing games  or spending time with her special friends. Virginia will forever be remembered for her love of learning and her sense of adventure.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2 pm in the Elizabethtown Cemetery with the Reverend Wade McLamb officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
