Susan Joyce Dowless

Susan Joyce Campbell Dowless, 90, Elizabethtown, NC passed away at home Friday, June 18, 2021.

She was born in Bladen County, North Carolina on December 9, 1930, to the late Lonnie Lawrence Campbell and Laura Mae Johnson Campbell of Elizabethtown. Susan graduated from UNCP and worked as a social worker at Bladen County Social Services for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Ruby Manning and Julia Allen and brother Laurence Campbell and son Kenneth Dowless.

She is survived by a sister, Doris Romanowski of Dallas, Texas and brother, Don Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons: Steve Dowless and wife Gayle of Tar Heel and Fred W. Dowless of Grand Bay, Alabama; four grandchildren: Bruce Dowless (wife, Teresa), Ginger Yousey (husband, Matt), Nicholas Dowless and Christy Dowless; three great-grandchildren: Madison Yousey, Jay Yousey and Cole Dowless.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, June 21st at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 4pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home with Dr. Mack Roberts officiating service. Burial will follow service in the Bladen Memorial Gardens in Elizabethtown.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Dowless.
