Sanford Edwards

Sanford Edwards, 91, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Elizabethtown Nursing Center. He was preceded by his parents, Harvey and Plumey King Edwards, his wife of 69 years, Velma Blackburn Edwards, three brothers Richard Edwards, Norman Edwards, and Nash Edwards and two sisters Teachie Cheshire and Carrie Mae Watson. Left to cherish his memory are sons, Arnold Wayne Edwards, JD Edwards (Darlina), and Deryl Edwards (Darlene),daughter in law Pamela Edwards Hamilton, all of Bladenboro, brother HJ Edwards (Sylvia) of Lumberton, sister Annie Grace Willard of Tabor City, five grandsons, Scott Edwards, Erik Edwards (Janna), Matthew Edwards, Kyle Hensley (Shaina Jordan), and Nathan Pait, five granddaughters Sandy Durden (Willie), Mollie Lewis (Billy), Marianne Valentiner (Stewart), Dara Edwards, and Stephanie Bryant (Spencer) and 13 great grandchildren, Walker, Will, John-Peyton, Samuel, Sadie E., Vera, Mae, Eva, Elizabeth, Etta, Karly, Evan and Sadie B.

Sanford was born and raised in Bladen County. He spent his life doing what he loved, farming. He cherished spending time in church and with his family. Sanford loved to share his testimony of all that God had done for him with everyone he met. When not out on the farm, you could find him watching his favorite show, Hee Haw, or a good western. Sanford received the gift of playing the piano in his later years and he loved gospel music. A devoted Christian husband, father, and grandfather who left a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by his family for years to come.

A funeral service is planned for Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel in Elizabethtown with Dr. Mack Roberts officiating. A private burial will follow the services.
