Roger Allen Teachey, 75, of White Lake went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2021. He was born in New Hanover County on January 28, 1946 to the late Edwin Earl Teachey Sr. and Sally Selma Raynor. He leaves behind his loving wife, Patsy B. Teachey of the home, two sons, Michael Dowless (Lisa) of Hope Mills, and Brad Dowless (Jody) of Dublin, one daughter Lori Gilmore (Michael) of Knoxville, TN, brother Edwin Earl Teachey Jr. (Ann) of Raleigh, eight grandchildren, Gabrielle (Chance), Taylor (John), Matthew, Damien, Devan, Andrew, Chase and Keira, four great grandchildren, Alexis, Oliver, Tilly and Emmerie, nephew Daniel Teachey (Stacy), their son, Price, niece Angela Teachey, and a cherished cousin Glenda Kanner (Jamie). Roger was preceded in death by his uncle Byron Teachey (Alice), aunt Maryann Teachey, and cousins, Glenn Teachey and Faye Jones.
Roger was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He spent six years serving our country in the Coast Guard and Reserves and was a proud patriot. Upon leaving the Coast Guard, he worked as a draftsman at Teachey Mechanical, Inc. for 4 years, and then at Coca Cola for 35 years before retiring to enjoy his later years with his family and friends. He continued to work some during retirement, driving for Merritt Brothers in Harrells. He enjoyed living at the Lake taking care of his cats and grilling out. Often you could catch him cruising around the Lake in his restored 1967 Oldsmobile 442 greeting folks and taking in the sights. He was a member of the Classic Cruisers, where he served as president for 3 years. Roger truly loved going to classic car cruise-ins and shows. A man of smiles and quick wit that will certainly be missed.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at The Lake Church in White Lake. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13th at 1:00 pm at The Lake Church with Rev. Cameron McGill and Rev. Eckie Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Teachey Cemetery (at the corner of Charity Rd and Hargrove Rd, about 4 ½ miles East of Rose Hill, 162 E Charity Rd., Greenevers, NC 28458).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Lake Church in memory of Roger Teachey, at 1930 White Lake Dr., White Lake, NC 28337 or on the website for The Lake Church.
