Norris "Wayne" Benson, Sr.

Norris “Wayne” Benson, Sr., 66, of Tar Heel passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Benson; stepdad, Luther Horne; brother, Joe Junior Horne and sister, Darlene Singletary. Wayne leaves behind his wife, Janet Jones Benson of the home; son, Norris Wayne Benson, Jr. of Tar Heel; daughter, Dana Julian and husband Timothy of Gastonia; two brothers: Donnie Horne (Helen) of Parkton, Bobby Horne of Fayetteville; sister, Zandra Hasert (Buddy) of Fayetteville and five grandchildren: Yasmine Benson, Norris “Trey” Benson III, Alaina Julian, Brooklyn Julian and Christiana Julian.

Wayne was married to the love of his life for 44 years. He fiercely treasured his family and took care of them. He often built tents and forts for his grandchildren and played with them which they will cherish forever. He was a hardworker and an incredibly good cook. His hobbies included fishing and golfing. Wayne was a good mentor always learning new stuff, especially the technical world. He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Friday, September 25th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following in the Allen Cemetery in Dublin. Rev. George Conner will officiate graveside service. All attendees are requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any hospice of your choice or to the Trump Campaign 2020.
