Mary Nye

Mary Elizabeth Clark Nye, 97, of Lisbon passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Dayspring in Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.B. and Lydia Hester Clark, husband Walter Earl Nye in 2002, son Toby Nye, one sister Hilda Loutzenhiser, and two brothers: Arglus Clark and Roland Clark. Mary is survived by one brother Bud Clark of Lisbon, one daughter Judy Nye Thompson of Burgaw, one daughter-in-law Deborah Nye of Knoxville, TN, five grandchildren: Beth Thompson (Jeff Kilgore), Lori Wells (Shaun), Tammy Nye, Rob Nye and Ben Nye. Mary also has seven great grandchildren.

Mary was born on January 12, 1924 in Bladen County. She married Earl Nye in 1942 at the age of 18. They first lived in a log house in Lisbon and later a brick home. She loved her yard and flowers. Mary and Earl were members of Lisbon Baptist Church and loved their community.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery with Reverend Teddy Lawson officiating.
