Mary Hester

Mary Gail (Pinky) Hester, 68 years young, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a month-long battle with Covid-19.

A native of Bladen County and current resident of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Pinky was born to the late Lester and Mary Ann Brisson on June 25, 1952. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tim Brisson.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Lloyd Hester; favorite daughter Tracie Brisson; granddaughters and apples of her eye Marley and Dylan Brisson; brothers Louis Brisson and Tommy Brisson; sister, Betty Skinner; eight nieces and five nephews.

Pinky retired from Bladen County Schools where she worked as a teacher for 30 years. After retirement, she enjoyed running into students she taught at Booker T. Washington Elementary and Bladen Lakes Elementary over her years as an educator. Pinky had the biggest heart and was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend you could have. We know she is in heaven now dancing.

A Drive-Up Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 4:00 pm outdoors behind Dublin Baptist Church in Dublin, NC with Pastor Jason Lee and Assoc. Pastor Tommy Knight. The family understands the heat may be difficult for some. Attendees will have the option to listen to the funeral service from their vehicle by tuning into FM channel 103.1 or sitting outside. Pinky would want everyone to come dressed in comfortable attire. The family encourages you to bring a chair and umbrella if you choose to sit outside.  All attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Burial will follow the services in the Allen Cemetery on Bethel Church Rd in Dublin.
