Lenox Harrelson Jr.

Mr. Lenox Dulin Harrelson Jr, 73 of Bay Tree Lake passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

He was born on November 22, 1947 to the late Lenox Dulin Harrelson Sr. and Louise Minsher Harrelson in Elizabethtown, NC. After graduating from Campbell University with a degree in Education, Lenox began a 31-year teaching career in Bladen County Schools, spending the majority of his career teaching social studies at East Arcadia. He loved his students and was proud to watch them learn and grow, keeping in touch with many even after he retired. In his free time Lenox enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working. He had a great talent for turning spare pieces of wood into a piece of art.

Mr. Harrelson is survived by his wife, Thea Peterson Harrelson of the home, brother-in-law William Peterson (Peggy) of Matthews, two nephews, Marcus Williams of Greensboro, Henry Williams of Newfane, NY; three nieces: Danielle MacLaughlin (Phillip) of Holly Ridge; Nicole Norris (Thomas) of Charlotte; and Emily Peterson of Orlando, FL; four great nephews: Aiden Williams, Cameron Williams, Charlie MacLaughlin and Caleb Williams, and one great niece, Marlowe Williams.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Williams and one brother-in-law Darrell Williams.

Plans are ongoing to safely celebrate Lenox’s life in the Spring with friends and family. The family asks that in leu of flowers donations be made to The Bay Tree Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, 12717 NC-41, Harrells, NC 28444.
