Larry Mitchell, 73, of Bladenboro passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home. Larry was born on August 4, 1948, to the late James Thomas Mitchell and Louise Drake. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Paulette Wright and brother, Ronald Mitchell. Larry was in the US Army and a Vietnam Veteran. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and was so happy when his sisters came to visit from Alabama. Larry was one of the best tile layers in Bladen, Columbus, and Robeson County. His sisters also stated he was one of the best in Alabama. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, bowling, watching westerns, sports, and classic TV. You would often hear Larry’s radio playing to the oldies while working. Larry even had the opportunity to go to Japan to lay tile. Larry was a man of God; He was a member of Abbottsburg Baptist Church and was one of the minds behind the scenes of rebuilding the church back after Matthew hit in 2016. When Larry was not laying tile or doing any of his other activities, he was building furniture. His son, Thomas gives his daddy all the credit for always being there to teach him all his different trades. Larry's gentle spirit and smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy T. Mitchell of the home; two sons: Thomas Mitchell (Amanda) of Alabama; Clifford Gaston III (Starr) of the home; three sisters: Connie King (Henry) of Grant Alabama, Darlene Ingram of Hazel Green, Alabama, Lisa Mitchell of Section, Alabama; and two grandchildren: Kayla Gaston and Savannah Mitchell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22,2022, at Bladen-Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro from 6-8 pm.
