Katherine Baker

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Katherine Ann Beard Baker, of Elizabethtown, NC went home to be with the Lord at the age of 63. She was born in Bladen County on September 9, 1959, to the late Vernon Beard Sr. and Nancy Blackburn Beard.

Katherine leaves behind her adoring husband, Stewart Baker of the home, two sons Jackie Smith (Sandra) and Joshua Baker (Kayla), both of Elizabethtown, two daughters Beth Singletary (Jeff) of Elizabethtown and Angel Beverly (Ben) of Tennessee, one brother Vernon Beard Jr. of Elizabethtown, one sister Brenda Tatum (Charles) of Elizabethtown, and nine grandchildren J.J. Singletary, Tyler Beverly, Jackson Smith, Katie Singletary, Jaden Beverly, Finley Baker, Marcus Singletary, Mary Singletary, and Tempie Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew Charles Jason Tatum and stepdaughter Crystal Belinda Baker.

Katherine was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She cherished her family especially her grandbabies. She had a love of gospel music, reading and traveling. Katherine had a heart of gold. She genuinely cared for not only her family but for others as well. She will be missed most for her compassionate, giving nature and her delicious homecooked meals.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Clarkton United Methodist Church in Clarkton, NC followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with the Reverend Shannon Ross officiating. Services will conclude in the White’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarkton.
