Johnny Pait

November 6, 1944 — December 3, 2020

Bladenboro

Johnny Coston Pait of Bladenboro, NC went peacefully to meet his Savior and Lord on December 3, 2020. He was born November 6, 1944 to the late T.C. and Ida Mae Pait.

An excellent problem solver, Johnny was constantly thinking. He loved a puzzle, whether a game or in real life. He was never satisfied just to learn the process of doing something, he was driven to understand how and why things work.  Over his lifetime he built a vast depth of knowledge and applied it to every situation he faced. If you needed a house built, he could build it exactly the way you wanted. If you needed advice on how to fix a car, lawn mower, washing machine, electrical outlet, leaky faucet, or anything else, he knew what would work. He had a deep love of the world God has given us and when you needed to identify an animal, insect, tree, plant, etc., he could do it. If you needed an extra hand, he would be there. If you were lost and needed direction, he would direct you. If you needed someone you could depend on, he was the man.

Johnny was an incredible doer. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was an awesome example of an honest, hard-working man. Johnny was a genuine person and his word was as good as any contract he could have signed. He loved his family and gave them everything they could ever need. There now exists a tremendous void in the lives of those who loved and knew Johnny, but his positive impact on this world through his obedience and service to the Lord and the knowledge that he has been taken to his promised reward in heaven is now rejoiced.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carnelle Bryan Pait. Through the years their love and faithfulness conquered many battles with amazing courage and resilience. He is also survived by his children: Bobby Pait (Valerie), Wendy Johnson (Dwayne), and Kevin Pait (Michelle). Johnny taught them how to be honest, show integrity and work like crazy to accomplish their goals. Also surviving him are his grandchildren: Katie Johnson Souter (David), Matthew Johnson, Hannah Pait Strickland (Colby), Timothy Pait, Nathan Pait, Sarah Johnson, Rebecca Johnson and Nolan Pait. The grandchildren were the apple of Johnny’s eye. He loved to poke fun at them and ask questions to make them squirm.

Family was highly honored by Johnny and he loved it when they were all together. Even though Johnny’s brothers and sisters lived far away, the bond of family kept them close. Those left behind are Donald Pait (Sandy), Diane Reese (Russell, deceased), and Michael Pait (Judy). He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Pait Smith (Roger) and one brother, Jack Pait (Marilyn).

The family would like to thank Liberty Hospice, Tammy Stevens, Cristie Bowen and Adreanna Mullins for their loving and compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Pait Cemetery on Center Road near Bladenboro, NC with Rev. Jason Lee and Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery yard immediately following the service. All attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
