John Clay Hester passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elden and Lucille Hester.
John grew up in Bladenboro where he was a proud member of the Bladenboro Band, excelling in percussion. He attended East Carolina University and served in the United State Air Force as an air traffic controller. He followed his dream to own a home accessory store, Simply Elegant. John dabbled in other careers, but was always drawn back to the family farm.
He is survived by his husband, Don Jacobs, of Bladenboro, daughter Madaline Meismer (Cody) of Bladenboro, and sister, Kimberly Hester Ball of Gainesville, FL. He had three nephews Jonathan Ball, Austin Ball and Trinity Jacobs and one grandson Dawson Meismer.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 20. 2021 from 4-6 pm at the Allen Brothers Clubhouse at 3247 Cabbage Rd in Bladenboro.
