John Hess, Jr.

John Hess, Jr., 58, of Tar Heel passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hess; sister, Joyce Britt and stepdad, John Oliver Hunt. John leaves behind his mother, Marjorie Hunt of Tar Heel; son, John Hess III and wife Samantha of White Oak; two daughters: Margalene Pait and husband Richard of Elizabethtown, Karen Hess and fiancé Lee Hyatt of Robbins; six brothers: Charles Hess (Becky), Don Hunt (Janet), Daran Hunt (Teresa), Leon Hunt (Shellena), Cuzman Hunt, Velton Hunt (Heather); five sisters: Lillie Vanover (Randy), Mary Ann Hess, Sara Hunt, Polly Peterson (Robbie), Marylene Oxendine (Terry); four grandchildren: Emily Pait, Molly Pait, Eli Deaver and Curtis Hyatt.

John treasured his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed the fellowship with others and making people laugh. He loved fishing, camping and the food that was included with the hobbies. He was also a collector of all sorts.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Russ officiating. Burial will follow at Community Baptist Church Cemetery.  At all other times the family will receive friends at the home of Margalene Pait, 145 Cape Owen Manor Rd. Elizabethtown, NC 28338.
