Jesse Harold Caffee

Jesse H. Caffee, 85, of Leland, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, while surrounded by his family.

He was from the Whiteville area, raised with the love of family and attended Hallsboro High School.  He attended Wilmington Junior College after graduating high school where he played basketball and learned to play the piano in his teen years. After college, he went on to pursue a career in music and played with the Driftwood Band. He served as a professional construction manager and general superintendent with great leadership skills and the ability to teach others. He accomplished many awards in leadership mainly because people knew he was trustworthy, supportive, and dependable.

Jesse traveled with a professional choir, The Wilmington Celebration Choir that demonstrated the love of Christ in today’s world. His family and his ministry of music has touched the hearts of many unsaved souls.

He was an active member of the Building and Grounds Committee, Kitchen Duty with Mrs. Barbara, and the choir at Riegelwood Baptist Church. He was involved with the Baptist Men’s Ministry. He had a great love for his Sunday School Class, The Jeremiah Class and his Christian leader, Sonny Justice, who helped to direct his path. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and working in his garden. Jesse was a man of many talents with a heart for helping others. His unwavering faith in Christ and his gift of leadership and music will certainly be remembered always in the lives of all that he touched.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse, and Myrtie P. Caffee, son Randy Caffee Sr., daughter Michelle Gore, grandson Randy Caffee Jr. and sister Joyce Russ. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose A. Caffee of the home, son David Caffee of Charlotte, stepsons John Jones and Bob Jones Jr., both of Wilson, stepdaughter Melissa Gardner of Wilson, brother Gerald Caffee (Nancy) of S.C., grandsons Connor and Landon Caffee, Ayden Hughes, Joel Brown (Christine), and Benjamin Brown and four great grandchildren Luke, Knox, Jack, and Madison.
