Jerry Wooten Johnson, 79, of Elizabethtown passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 while at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center Angel House in Whiteville. He was born August 15, 1944 the son of the late Clyde Johnson and Eula Wooten Johnson. 

Jerry was a hard working, loving family man. He simply adored his wife Sandra, especially her cooking and his grandchildren. He was a jokester by nature who enjoyed giving folks a good laugh. When not working, he loved to farm, tend horses, go fishing or watch go cart racing. His favorite places to be were relaxing in his recliner or enjoying the scenery riding in his blue pickup truck. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clyde Wade Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Johnson, of the home, sons Jerry Dean Johnson of Bladenboro and John W. Johnson of Elizabethtown, one brother Jack Johnson (Susan) of Clarkton, two granddaughters Heather Pruett (Jeff) and Faith Johnson (Fiancé Andrew Nichols) and a special cousin, Kent Gooden.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 5-7 pm at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House at 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472 or  the COPD Foundation 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
