Janet Warner Cain

Janet Warner Cain, 101, of White Lake passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her home. She was born in Bladen County on January 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Alexander Livington Warner and Dorothy Eloise Register Warner.

 

Janet married the love of her life Harold Cain, and had 64 wonderful years together until his death in October of 2010. They lived and raised their family in Fayetteville in the 1950’s where Janet worked as a registered nurse and Harold sold cars. Upon their retirement, they moved to White Lake, NC in 2004 to build their dream home.

 

Janet loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She always woke up each day, got dressed in makeup and jewelry and prepared just in case she had visitors. She had a love of bright colors, beautiful flowers and people. Her compassion for others and love of life will be ever remembered by all that knew and loved her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Harold, three sisters, Edna Gray Miller, Ernestine Clark, and Bobby Perry, two brothers, Morris Warner, and Eric Warner, and one granddaughter Denah Long. Left to cherish her memory are her children Dorothy Merritt and husband Pee Wee of White Lake, and Helen McCall and husband Ron of Ponte Vedra, FL, one brother Sidney Warner and wife Wanda of Pinehurst, NC, three grandchildren Hal Strickland, Tammy Merritt and Greg Merritt and wife Jane, five great grandchildren, Katie Davis and husband Justin, Cooper Strickland, Wyatt Wade and wife Savannah, Hope Wade and Bailey Cook. She also leaves behind three great-great grandchildren, Waylon, Kinley, and Case and one more on the way, Tanner.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church on Sunday, March 3, 2024, At 1:00 pm with the Reverend Chris Carroll officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Breast Cancer Research or Gentiva Hospice Care in Whiteville, NC.
