Jacqueline "Jackie" Ruth Pharr Hursey

Jacqueline 'Jackie' Pharr Hursey, 78, of Dublin NC , passed quietly at Duke University Medical Center on December 26, 2023.  She is preceded in death by her parents, White C Pharr Sr and Gladys Dowless Pharr, brother White C 'BO' Pharr Jr and step-daughter Lauren Hursey.

Jackie leaves behind her husband Theron David Hursey III of the home, sons, Matthew Pharr Batten (Tim) of Dillon, SC and Wilbert Henry Batten III (Heather) of Wilmington, step-daughters, Cristin Hursey of Dublin, Carmen Greene of Dublin, and Davida Hall (Wesley) of Clarkton, NC, sister Julia Pharr Freeman (Garry).  Grandchildren, Logan, Mary-Catherine, Braxton, Brylan, Weslyn, Madelyn, Mason and Charlie and many nieces and nephews.

Jackie was a champion of her family and always took great pride in all their accomplishments. She was an amazing cook and could most often be found in her kitchen making anything from her prized pecan pies to Matthew’s favorite, Swiss Steak or David’s favorite Butter Pecan cake.  She was quick to pick up things for her kids and grandkids on shopping trips that she thought they would like or find useful. Jackie spent many years traveling around the state with David to see their favorite Beach Music Bands and they even won the Carolina Beach Music Awards Fans of the Year Award in 2001. She will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 6-8 pm at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Dublin First Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason Lee, the Reverend Cameron McGill, and Dr. Mack Roberts officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Allen Cemetery in Dublin.
