Jack Grimes

Jack Walton Grimes, of Tar Heel, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born in Bladen County on August 20, 1937 to the late Ralph Lucas Grimes and Maggie Burney Grimes. He leaves behind his wife, Annette Storms Grimes of the home; sons: Woodie Grimes of White Oak, Wendell Grimes of White Oak; daughter, Amy Melvin of Tar Heel; sister, Ann Brisson (Billy) of Raleigh; five grandchildren: Robert Grimes, Laura Grimes, Chance Melvin, Dalton Melvin, and Kaylee Cruz; three step-grandchildren: Kelly Caulder, Adam Caulder and Matt Thompson; three great grandchildren: Sydney, Grayson, and Demetrius.

Jack was a hardworking family man who loved to keep busy. When not working, he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting or fishing.  Jack was a member of the Tar Heel Baptist Church for 21 years. He will sincerely be missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends at 2 pm on Saturday, January 28th at the Tar Heel Baptist Church with a funeral service immediately following at 2:30 pm with the Reverend Tommy Puryear officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
