Hurshel Samuel Wells, age 86, U.S. Navy Veteran of Clarkton, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Bladen County/Cape Fear Valley Hospital. He was born in Bladen County on May 27, 1936, to the late Ernest Q. Wells and Katherine Hyatt Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers James, Leamon, Buck, Ernest Jr., and Otis and one great nephew, Ronald Ray Page. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Judy S. Wells of the home, son Samuel Ray Page of the home, three sisters Ethal Ward, Marie Ahrens, and Frances Magaha and a host of nieces and nephews.
Hurshel was a hardworking family man. He worked for the Town of Elizabethtown for 15 years and knew just about everyone in Bladen County. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting. Hurshel loved animals, loved life, and tried to live it to the fullest. His compassionate heart and his dedication to his community will not soon be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel in Elizabethtown with Father Josh officiating. A brunch will be served for family and friend at 11:30 am at the church. A graveside service will follow in the Clarkton Cemetery.
