Hubert Paul Shaver, 93, of Clarkton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born in Stanley County on April 14, 1929, to the late Otis Shaver and Bessie Smith Shaver.
On May 27th, he would have been married to the love of his life, Doris Jeanette Nelson Shaver, for 73 years if not for her untimely passing on “June 15, 2020”. He is now reunited with his love as well as his two daughters, Frances Kay Shaver Hopkins and Karen Jeanette Shaver. Left to carry on his legacy are sons, Stephen Paul Shaver (Gayle) and Sam Alexander Shaver (Chris), two sisters, Ethel Dennis and Katherine Roberts, seven grandchildren, David Wayne Hopkins, Ashley Hopkins Williams, Jeremy Paul Shaver, Wendy Gayle Shaver, Courtney Guyton, April Smith and Lindsie Shaver, and 11 great grandchildren.
Hubert was a hardworking, loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He simply adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. When not working, he loved to spend time outdoors gardening, hunting, or fishing, especially in his pond. Hubert was known to most as the tree guy. If you needed a tree cut down, he was the man to call. He instilled the value of a good day’s work and unconditional love in the hearts of his family. His legacy will forever be remembered and cherished in the years to come.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Reverend Tony Hopkins officiating. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Steve and Gayle Shaver, 9036 Rosindale Road, Council, NC 28434.
Small flowers are welcome, or memorials may be sent to the White Plains Presbyterian Church c/o Stephen and Gayle Shaver, 9036 Rosindale Road, Council, NC 28434 .
