Harold Douglas Wilson, 73, of Council passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, one son, Chadrick Wilson, two brothers, Rudolph Wilson, Sidney Wilson and two sisters, Diane Wilson and Earline Sanderson. Harold leaves behind his mother, Marie Massengill of Charlotte; his loving wife, Connie Wilson of the home; one son, Shane Wilkins (Charity) of Sneads Ferry; one sister, Sue Oldenburg (Jim) of Charlotte; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special member of the family, Greg Soriano.
Harold was a passionate, hardworking and loving, family man. As a Vietnam Airforce Veteran, he loved and served his country well. His hands were never idle. Harold spent 25 years farming and 10 years as a construction contractor. An avid outdoorsman, he spent 38 years in the Florida Everglades. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. Harold wasted no time and everything he put his hands to was done the right way, no shortcuts. His compassionate and dedicated way of life will be a legacy that lives on in the hearts of all those that knew him.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A Memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm in the chapel with Rev. Jason Williams officiating.
