Grady Livingston Burney, 81, of Bladenboro passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webb Burney and Isabelle Storms Burney, his wife of 60 plus years, Peggy Guyton Burney and three brothers: Webb Lonnie Burney Jr., Max Burney, and Wright Burney. Grady leaves behind one son, Darel Burney of Bladenboro; one daughter, Joy Wright (Ricky) of Bladenboro; three sisters: Linda Finley of Madison, GA; Nettie Horton (Douglas) of Bladenboro; Wanda Singletary (Ronald) of Bladenboro and three grandchildren: Lauren Burney, Mason Skipper and Morgan Skipper, all of Bladenboro.
Grady was a humble, simple man that loved his family. He enjoyed working in his blueberries and staying active. Grady had a warm sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He leaves a legacy of love, kindness and laughter in the hearts of all that knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2 pm in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Bladenboro with Rev. Warren Hill officiating. All attendees are asked to practice social distancing. The family will meet at other times at the home of his son, Darel Burney, 12081 NC Hwy 131, Bladenboro.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Liberty Hospice in Whiteville and to his sister-in-law, Karen, for the tender care of Grady and the kindness expressed to his family during his illness.
