George “Freddie” Hargrove, 81, of Bladenboro went to his eternal home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Hargrove and Ilene Simmons Hargrove, one brother Franklin Hargrove and one sister Clara L. Hargrove Hester. Survivors include his two sons, John Hargrove (Karyn) of Danvers, MA and George Hargrove (Cyndie) of Wellington, UT, one daughter Kim Sauchuk of Peabody, MA, one brother J.D. Hargrove (Linda) of Bladenboro, one sister Diana Hinson (Tommy) of Bladenboro, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Freddie was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He was especially close with his siblings which he loved to cut up with. Freddie would touch his sister Clara’s hair often just to hear her say “Don’t mess up my hair.” He enjoyed eating at all the local restaurants, Bensons, Ed’s Grill and Joe’s Barbeque. They all knew him by his name. He was also known for a joke or two by the local policemen who he enjoyed talking with. Freddie loved to work in his yard, raise rabbits, deer hunt and watch westerns on tv. He will be remembered for his original sense of humor.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2 pm in the Lewis Cemetery in Bladenboro with Rev. Wayne Hargrove officiating.
