George “Carsie” Davis Jr., 78, of Bladenboro passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Bladen County on March 2, 1946 the son of the late George Carsie Davis Sr. and Vada Nance Davis Parnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one son, Michael Davis and two sisters, Josephine Lee and Janice Johnson. Left to cherish his memory are beloved wife, Carol Davis of the home, daughter Renee Davis (John) of Bladenboro, four grandchildren Jamie Davis, Blake Davis, Jonathon Davis, and Justin Davis, three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Carsie was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bladenboro where he served as a deacon and ran the sound room. In the 70’s, Carsie was met with tragedy in receiving burns of about 85 percent of his body. He was the first individual to walk out of a burn center in those times with that much trauma. He often told his testimony of how good God had been to him and never had a dry eye in the house. He not only loved his Lord and his family but also his community. He served as the Chief of the Bladenboro Rescue Squad, a member of the Bladenboro Jaycee Lions Club and as a Bladen County Mason. A hard worker by nature but when not working you could find him either watching the Atlanta Braves, Duke Basketball or in the woods hunting with his beloved dogs. Carsie will always be remembered for making every word count as he shared childhood memories, words of encouragement and love. A legacy that will forever be carried in the hearts of all that knew him.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Bladenboro with the Reverend Charles Hester and the Reverend Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery in Butters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Bladenboro PO Box 176
Bladenboro, NC 28320.
