Gennel Pope Walters

Gennel Pope Walters, 71, of Clarkton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 8, 1953 in Bladen County daughter of the late Julius Pope and Clara Overstreet Pope.

She was preceded by her parents as well as her beloved husband Jimmy Walters and one brother Redgie Pope. Left to cherish her memory are sons, James West (Mary) and Kenneth Walters (Donna), 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Gennel was a God fearing, praying mother and grandmother. She was always prepared to tell others about Jesus. She tried to live a life well pleasing to God and set an example for not only her family but anyone that she encountered. The family rest knowing that she is where she longed to be in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior. She will be truly missed but well remembered in the legacy she left each of them and by the beautiful flowers she tended so well.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4 pm with Pastor Charlie Tatum officiating.
