Frances Patricia “Pat” Melvin, 88, of White Oak passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Elizabethtown Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Austin and Inez Barden Melvin; husband, Winfred “Pete” C. Melvin; brother, Barden Melvin; grandson, Samuel “Sammy” W. Johnson, Jr. and great-grandson, Jude Mills.
Pat leaves behind her son, Charles Melvin and wife Donna of White Oak; three daughters: Connie Lowery and husband Britton of Lumberton, Pat Gooden and husband David of Elizabethtown, Rose Johnson and husband Wayne of Bladenboro; sister, Betty Bruton of Wilmington; eight grandchildren: Chris, Channing, Jason, Crystal, Matthew, Dana, Dustin, Brittney and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Pat adored her family dearly. She loved her Lord and Savior and enjoyed going to church. She enjoyed going shopping and getting her hair done regularly. She gained the respect of the workers at Elizabethtown Nursing where all of them called her “grandma.” Pat’s kind and gentle personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 10th in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in White Oak. Rev. Mark Gustafson and Rev. Jim Woodruff will officiate service. The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Charles and Donna Melvin 818 River Road White Oak, NC 28399.
The family wishes to thank all the administration and staff at Elizabethtown Nursing and Liberty Hospice for their kindness and gratitude.
