Ms. Eva Kate Edge, 92, of Elizabethtown went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie James West and Lillie Bell Edge West, her stepmother Marcia West, her husband Braxton Edge, five brothers, Linwood West, Arbie West, Carl West, Edward West, and Bradley West, and five sisters, Ethel Melvin, Grace Mintz, Eralene West, Ruby West and Annie West. Eva leaves behind son, Bruce Edge (Cindy) of Fayetteville, five daughters, Linda Jones (Bill) of Elizabethtown, Barbara Osborne of Old Dock, Brenda Hendrix (Daniel) of Wilmington, Bernice Jackson of Hope Mills, and Dianne Palma (Archie) of Fayetteville, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law Joan West Faircloth.
Ms. Eva Kate loved the Lord, her family, and her church. She was an active member of Windsor United Methodist Church until about 10 years ago when her health would not allow it. She loved sports and enjoyed participating in the Senior games, especially bowling. She had won 150 plus medals. When not participating in sports, she was watching them on tv. Ms. Eva Kate loved her UNC Tar Heels. One never left hungry at Ms. Eva Kate's. It gave her great joy to cook for everyone. Her determination, her spunk and her love for everyone will certainly be missed but not forgotten.
Per Ms. Eva Kate's wishes, the family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Windsor United Methodist Church in Ammon followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Gustafson officiating. Services will conclude in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will greet friends at the home of Ms. Eva Kate, 620 McLeod Village, Apt. 11D, Elizabethtown. Due to the COVID epidemic, the family ask that you use your own personal precautions.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Windsor United Methodist Church, 12863 NC Hwy 242 N, Elizabethtown, NC 28337 .
