Ervin “Jake” Brisson, 88, died Friday, January 15, 2021 in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Dublin, NC on July 21, 1932. Jake served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and during his ten years of military service lived with his family in Kentucky, the Azores, California, and North Carolina. Later he worked many years as a civilian at Fort Bragg in NC.
Jake graduated from Tar Heel School, Tar Heel, NC, and as an accomplished athlete made the very first touchdown for the first-ever Tar Heel Panthers football team in 1949. He was also an accomplished baseball player, and went on to enjoy playing with the Dublin Dodgers. Later in life he pursued bowling as a hobby and was active in the Lion’s Club Dublin Chapter. Jake was a lifelong member of Dublin First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Brisson is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Donnie Brisson; three brothers: Scott Brisson, Wilson Brisson, Neil Brisson and a beloved cousin Nellie Dowless. He is survived by three sons, Carson Brisson (Lou Ann), David Brisson and Mark Brisson; two grandsons, Jason Brisson (Lexie), Evan Brisson, a sister-in-law, Doris Brisson, former spouse, Elsie Brisson and a best friend for many years, Alese Blanks.
A Graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Allen Cemetery on Bethel Church Road in Dublin, NC.
