Elizabeth “Lib” Warwick Brown, 100, of Elizabethtown passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, while at Elizabethtown Nursing Center. She was born in Bladen County to the late Joseph William Warwick Sr. and Stella Wilson Warwick. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 22 years, James A. Brown, brother Billy Warwick, sister-in-law Betty Warwick, and stepson Jimmy Brown. Left to cherish her memory are nieces and nephews: Sharon and Don Natale, Becky and Bobby Dowless, Joseph Dowless, Charity, Eric, Liam, and James Ferrell, and Crystal Dowless. Joining them in remembrance are her step grandchildren Darlene McPherson and family and Jamie Brown and family.
Elizabeth was a very independent and loving Christian lady. She made a career as a medical assistant and worked for Dr. Barnhill for 40 plus years until her retirement. Although Elizabeth never had children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Family was extremely important to her. Elizabeth was an active member of her church. She never missed a Sunday if she was physically able to go. She also loved to travel. When she was younger, she often enjoyed taking group bus tours and going to the mountains with her traveling buddies, Hope, Betty, and Annette. Elizabeth will always be remembered for her big heart, her strong will, and her supportive nature to anyone in need.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services in the Clarkton Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Sylvia Batten, Quan Cromartie, and Kathy McKiver. They would also like to thank the staff of Elizabethtown Nursing Center and Liberty Hospice for their love and care during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Nightingale Nursing Scholarship at Bladen Community College, P.O. Box 266/7418 NC Hwy 41 W, Dublin, NC 28332, or Grace UMC, P.O. Box 2697, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
