Edgar “Talmadge” Singletary, 84, of Elizabethtown went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Molly Hall Singletary, brothers Howard, Ray, John and Jesse Singletary and his sisters, Mariam Bryan, Julia Shirey, and Edna Burnette. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 62 years, Clementine Singletary of the home, son Edgar Singletary of Elizabethtown, daughter Ann Hall (Mike) of Lumberton, granddaughter Molli Hall Nance (Daniel) and two great grandchildren, Eden Brooke Nance, and Asher Rhett Nance.
Talmadge was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He and Clementine celebrated 62 years of marriage this April 9th. Mrs. Singletary said it was a match made in heaven. They were inseparable, where you saw one, you saw the other. They enjoyed planting and working their garden, taking trips to the mountains, the Amish Country and watching Andy Griffith on TV. Talmadge will be missed a great deal here on earth and his beloved bride can’t wait for the day when they will meet again on the other side of glory.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 3-4 pm at Bethlehem Holiness Church in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm with Rev. Devin Brisson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Singletary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dublin.
