Dorothy Leona Davis Cannady, 95, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jarvis Davis and Irene Allen Davis, her husband John Cannady, one grandson Shaun Perkins and three sisters, Margaret Carroll, Helen Ward and Vivian Smith. She leaves behind four daughters: Juli Perkins (Kenny), Donna Cannady, Karen Townsend (Grant), and Kenna Cannady, all of Bladenboro; four grandsons: Ian Perkins (Karen) of Fayetteville, NC, Ty Perkins (Taylor) of Elizabethtown, Steven Perkins of Bladenboro, and Dakota Perkins (Kristal) of Bladenboro; two great-grandsons: Grayson and Landon Perkins of Fayetteville; one sister: Betty Davis Williams of Rockingham; one sister-in-law: Margaret Cannady Barnes of Elizabethtown; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and aunt. She never met a stranger. Her compassionate heart and passionate ways made people feel like they were the most special person that ever was. She has both loved and been loved by people of all ages and walks of life. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, May 21st at Antioch Baptist Church in Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 4:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Blake Dodd officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery (Butters) in Bladenboro.
