Doris Ann Williams Gardner, 83, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Bladen County on October 22, 1941, to the late David Lee Williams and Mollie Callihan Williams. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Morris Williams, David Mitchell Williams and Horace Lynn Williams and one great grandson, Zack Priest.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, J.T. Edge Jr. of Bladenboro, Tammy Edge of the home, Jill Butler of Bladenboro, and Dianne Carroll of South Carolina, one sister Mary Frances Shaver of Charlotte, eleven grandchildren, Thomas Freauf (Denean), Kassie Fores (Tommy), Luke Buchanan, Karen Freauf, Christina Hester (Eric), Robin Roy (Justin), Amanda Johnson (William), Michelle Butler, Adam Butler, Jeffrey Priest Jr., and Alexander Priest, 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Doris Ann was an outgoing lady who adored her family, her church and her friends. From an early age she had intense determination, teaching herself to read and write. She rarely met a stranger and enjoyed a good conversation. Doris had a love of fishing, cooking, playing cards, westerns and music. She was a special person with a huge heart and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen Gaskins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Bladenboro Chapel with the Bishop Johnny Causey officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Singletary Cemetery of Butters.
